Check-In Info

Whether you are travelling for business, leisure, or with family, starting your journey smoothly begins with the check-in process. At Terminal 4, passengers should arrive early, keep all travel documents ready, and allow enough time for check-in, baggage drop, passport control, and security screening.

Please make sure you are carrying all required travel documents, including:

Valid passport
Flight ticket or booking confirmation
Visa or destination entry approval, if required
Residence card or civil ID, if applicable
Any health, medical, animal, or special travel documents required by your destination

For the latest flight and check-in updates, passengers should always check the airport screens, Kuwait Airways channels, or contact their airline before travelling.

Reaching the Check-In Area

Once you enter Terminal 4, proceed to the check-in counter area. Check-in counters are allocated based on destination, cabin class, passenger category, baggage type, and operational requirements.

Passengers are advised to check the Flight Information Display System, also known as FIDS, when they arrive at the terminal to confirm the correct check-in counter for their flight.

Check-In Opening & Closing Times

For Kuwait Airways flights departing from Kuwait, the official check-in time page lists Kuwait check-in opening at 4 hours before scheduled departure. The same page notes that check-in closes 1 hour before departure for all flights except JFK, and 1 hour 30 minutes before departure for JFK flights. Kuwait Airways also notes that early check-in may be processed for passengers arriving 12 hours before scheduled departure for any sector except JFK, to reduce congestion at T4.

Check-in opening and closing times may change due to operational reasons, delays, or airport conditions, so passengers should always confirm the latest timing before travelling.

General T4 Timing Guide

Check-in counters open: Usually 4 hours before departure for Kuwait departures.
Check-in counters close: 1 hour before departure for most flights.
JFK / New York flights: Check-in closes 1 hour 30 minutes before departure.
Boarding gate: Passengers should reach the gate early and follow the boarding time shown on their boarding pass or airport screens.

Check-In Options

At Terminal 4, passengers may use different check-in options depending on their flight, destination, baggage, and eligibility.

Counter Check-In

Counter check-in is available for passengers who need to issue a boarding pass, check in baggage, verify documents, request assistance, or complete travel formalities.

Passengers should use counter check-in if they:

Have checked baggage
Are travelling to a destination requiring visa or document verification
Need special assistance
Are travelling as an unaccompanied minor
Have oversized baggage
Are travelling with animals
Need help from airline staff

Counter check-in allows passengers to complete boarding pass issuance and baggage check-in at the same time.

Self Check-In

Self check-in kiosks help passengers complete check-in faster and reduce waiting time at counters. Passengers may use the kiosks to issue their boarding pass where available and where their travel conditions allow it.

Self check-in is especially convenient for passengers travelling without checked baggage. If you have checked baggage, you may still need to proceed to the baggage drop or check-in counter assigned to your flight.

Destinations requiring visa checks, document verification, special approvals, or airline assistance may still require passengers to use the check-in counter.

Online Check-In

Kuwait Airways offers online check-in through its website and mobile app. Kuwait Airways states that online check-in is available for passengers with a valid confirmed e-ticketed booking and can be completed between 24 hours and 3 hours before departure.

For online check-in, passengers may need the following details:

Flight number
Destination
Family name
Booking reference / PNR
Passport information

Kuwait Airways states that online check-in services may include check-in, seat viewing or changes, receiving check-in confirmation by email, and printing the e-receipt.

Passengers who checked in online and arrive at Kuwait Airport without baggage should proceed to the Kuwait Airways Terminal 4 check-in counters at least 90 minutes before scheduled departure to present the e-receipt and obtain boarding passes. Passengers with checked baggage must also proceed to the Terminal 4 counters to present the online check-in receipt and receive the boarding pass and baggage receipt.

Oversized Baggage

If you are travelling with oversized baggage, sports equipment, large boxes, fragile items, or items that cannot be accepted at the standard baggage belt, please proceed to the assigned oversized baggage counter after completing the required check-in steps.

Oversized baggage may be subject to airline approval, size restrictions, weight limits, and excess baggage charges.

Travelling with Animals

If you are travelling with animals, please confirm all requirements with your airline before your travel date. Passengers must prepare the required documents, approvals, crate requirements, health certificates, and destination permits where applicable.

Do not arrive at the airport without confirming animal travel arrangements in advance.

Things to Avoid

To prevent delays at check-in, please avoid the following:

Do not arrive late for check-in.

Do not travel without checking passport validity and visa requirements.

Do not rely only on online check-in if your documents, baggage, or destination require counter verification.

Do not proceed to security before confirming your boarding pass and baggage status.

Do not bring oversized baggage to a standard counter unless directed.

Do not travel with animals without prior airline approval and required documents.

Do not ignore airline instructions for medical cases, pregnancy, unaccompanied minors, or special assistance.

Solving Problems

If you are late, missing a boarding pass, facing a document issue, carrying excess baggage, or unsure about your counter, please approach your airline check-in counter or the nearest information desk.

If your checked baggage exceeds the allowance on your ticket, you may need to pay excess baggage fees before your baggage can be accepted.
